KARES at Woodland Heights

On March 3, Kiwanis visited Woodland Heights Elementary School as part of the Kiwanis KARES program to celebrate reading and the imaginative world of Dr. Seuss. Hosted by Mrs. Robbie Neylon for WHS 3rd-grade classes, the event brought together students and Kiwanis volunteers for a morning focused on the joy of books.

Friend of Kiwanis Sue Laramie and Kiwanians John Intorcio, Kathy Calvin, and Tara Shore joined the students for reading, Dr. Seuss–inspired snacks, and creative bookmark decorating.

The highlight of the program—and the heart of KARES—is ensuring every child leaves with books of their own. Each student received two free books to take home, helping encourage a lifelong love of reading.

The event was a wonderful celebration of literacy, creativity, and community partnership.

The next KARES event is Thursday, March 19th. If you are interested in joining our KARES team, please contact us!
